A Manual is a set of knowledge that can be learnt by a cultivator following a Xiandao Law. Can also refer to the book (Item_Esoterica) item that represents this knowledge.
There are multiple ways of acquiring the knowledge within a Manual.
Manuals can be seen as the main source of strength for Xiandao Cultivators. The Shendao Cultivation equivalent can be either Guards or Divine Realm Buildings. The Physical Cultivation equivalent would be Secret Bodies.
Manuals with an Attainment value that are not Hidden (also called Law Exclusive) can be stored in Manual Pavilions. Manuals with no Attainment values can’t be transcribed, only learned directly on a Cultivator. Location Manualsare an example of Manuals with no Attainment.
Learning a Manual can have different requirements. The main ones are:
Learning a Manual requires enough Inspiration, and after learning it, Attainment is increased. Unorthodox Attainment when learning an Unorthodox Manual, and Orthodox Attainment when learning an Orthodox Manual.
Can be Counteractive, Neutral, or Connective based on Element Relationships between the Manual and cultivator. Connective Manuals have a reduced Attainment value, while Counteractive Manuals have an increased Attainment value. As a result, Connective Manuals have a lower Inspiration Cost, while Counteractive Manuals have a higher Inspiration Cost.
Manuals can be categorized in multiple ways.
The Type parameter value can be used to categorize manuals into the following categories. These are also utilized with Sub-Spirit Secret Epiphanies, also with the Manual Pavilion categories. The Favorites category does not belong to this list, as it only displays the Manuals that have been set as Favorite within the Manual Pavilions pool of Manuals.
Unused (Art) category exists, but isn’t utilized.
Battle Spells category can be seen in the Manual Pavilion interface, which contains Unorthodox Combat Spells, but it’s not an Esoterica Type Parameter value.
The effect that manuals have can be used to categorize manuals into the following categories.
The categories themselves can be split into two, manuals affecting the cultivator, and manuals with a global effect (or affecting the save). Manuals with a global effect only need to be studied by a single cultivator for their effect, but as manuals can have multiple effects (like Formation manuals unlocking both nodes and adding a modifier), those are still useful to learn.
And because a single manual can have multiple effects, this system of categorization can be considered inefficient.
The type of Attainment can be used to split Manuals into Orthodox and Unorthodox.
Based on the descriptions, Orthodox Manuals come from Orthodox Sects and are used for the foundation for all cultivators. Unorthodox Manuals come from various sects from their own perspectives, and can be used as a supplement for enlightenment.
From a technical point of view, the difference between Orthodox and Unorthodox is that Orthodox manuals are previously defined while Unorthodox manuals are generated on runtime.
Manuals can be categorized based on their acquisition method. A list of common sources.
Based on exclusiveness, manuals can be split into two categories.
A Mutually Exclusive Manual is a manual that can’t coexist with other certain Manuals. A set of Mutually Exclusive Manuals is a list of manuals that are all Mutually Exclusive with each other.
A Law Exclusive Manual is a manual that can only be learnt by a cultivating a particular law. This is accomplished by the setting a Hidden value for the Manual, which hides it from the Manual Pavilion, as well as the Mentoring interface.
Tentatively, Natural and Divergent Laws (not actually laws) can also go under this category, as those manuals are also hidden and can’t be transcribed or passed on.
Passive Manuals modify a given Property — usually the property in question is increased, however a decrease may occur as well.
Manuals (Esoterica
) have multiple parameters. The following is a list of commonly used ones:
The following table is a WiP, eventually including every single Manual in game.

According to legend, Nangong was the chosen one, favored by destiny. These records were passed down the generations for thousands of years, influencing and inspiring a long series of cultivators.
Yuan, on the other hand, was a legendary ancient who successfully altered their fate and ascended to become an immortal, despite having been born with lesser talents.

It is said that Immortal Caerulea was Venus incarnate, born with the strongest Metal element. Before becoming an immortal, Blue Lotus spent several years in seclusion within the Southern Seas. After this they returned to Mt. Shu and finally achieved ascension in Thunderclap Cave. In the millennia that has since passed, Blue Lotus’ final resting place is yet to have been discovered.

It’s said that after establishing the Skydome Palace within the northern borderlands, the Patriarch underwent a transformation and traveled the mortal world far and wide. Without them knowing, he protected many a wandering disciple of the Skydome Palace during this time, leaving behind a wealth of legends in his wake. Later he was to disappear without a trace, never to be found.

The legend states that the dragons had amassed thousands of treasures upon Dragon’s Platform, and with their magic, they sealed and buried them to conceal them from society. This was long ago, however, and with the flowing of time, most of these seals began to fail. There is no shortage of hopefuls who dare venture into Dragon’s Platform to test their luck.

Toward the end of the ancient age, there had begun to appear a clearer divide between the good and evil cultivators of society. The divide grew, becoming irreparable; and a decisive battle took place in the southern borderlands between the ancient cultivators. The battle stretched on for over a month, bringing catastrophe to the world and threatening all life within it. The ways of Yin and Yang were so severely affected that they took the physical form of Torch Dragon in the mortal world. Torch Dragon was enraged, and caused the land to sink and sea to rise. The nine provinces collapsed, thus bringing an end to the first great war between immortals and demons. This is also how the wild southern lands of today came to be.

This starting guide is aimed for those unfamiliar with the game and those who find themselves lost when facing certain aspects of the game. It contains both overview of the main game mechanics and recommendations regarding how to proceed with the game.
Game modes[]
The game has several game modes:
- Tutorial
A short story driven tutorial that helps new players get familiar with the most essential mechanics of the game and introduce them to the world lore. It must be completed first in order to unlock the other modes.
- Classic mode
The main game mode that allows the player to customize difficulty and starting conditions to their liking.
- Immortal mode («Ironman»)
- Manual saving is disabled
- Fixed autosave intervals
- No tips during story events
- Game difficulty is maxed out
- Illusory Realm
The creative mode to test different base layouts and fiddle with the weather conditions.
Character creation[]
Attributes[]
Character’s attributes affect their performance, cultivation and story events outcome. There are five main attributes and one special attribute. All of them are capped at 10.
- Perception
- Affects character’s field of vision and the efficiency of tasks that require fine work.
- Constitution
- Affects character’s lifespan, heat and cold resistance and the efficiency of tasks that require strength.
- Charisma
- Affects character’s temperament and the ability to persuade others and make friends. it also affects their performance as a sect master.
- Intelligence
- Affects character’s ability to learn skills and cultivate.
- Luck
- Affects character’s success rate during random number rolls and increases chances to break through a bottleneck.
- Potential
- Affects the speed at which character builds their Dao foundation. Generally unimportant for beginners and only relevant for people who are min-maxing their Xiandao builds.
Skills[]
Skills are separated into three categories: manual labor, fine skills and cultivation talents.
- Manual labor — skills that are more heavily influenced by Constitution attribute
- Mining
- Farming
- Construction
- Crafting
- Fine skills — skills that are more heavily influenced by Perception or Charisma attribute
- Social
- Artisanry
- Cooking
- Medicine
- Cultivation talents — skills that affect the Character’s starting performance immediately after promotion to a Cultivator.
- Battle
- Qi Sense
- Magic
- Magic Crafting
Experience[]
The starting experience of your character. These are optional and can make your starting conditions easier or harder. Each experience costs/awards points. You get 5 free points to spend.
More information on these perks can be found in Character Creation.
Creating your starting disciples[]
Now that we have the basics out of the way, let’s figure out how do we want to proceed.
A good choice would be to pick an experience that provides a starting cultivation law and roll a character that would be compatible with it. (Note: if you don’t pick an experience with starting law, the game will assign you a random one from the five laws of Taiyi Sect).
The game recommends to pick the True Sun disciple that grants you the True Sun Refining Law cultivation law. This law focuses on spell power and it’s one of the easier laws to cultivate due to it having fire affinity and its low attributes requirement. It requires all five attributes to be at least 5 (the more the better), so let’s keep rolling a character until we have one that satisfies these requirements. Since this is a law focused on spells, make sure to keep an eye on Magic skill too, since base value of Spell knowledge skill will be affected by it (don’t stress too much about it though, it’s nothing but a little bonus).
You might want to roll until all of your characters have high base attributes, since it will greatly affect their future cultivation and it won’t be easy to find new disciples with high attributes. It might also be a good idea to tailor their attributes toward cultivation laws of your choosing.
Surviving early game[]
Managing your disciples[]
The disciples of your sect are separated in two groups: outer and inner disciples. You begin the game with 1-5 outer disciples.
- Outer Disciples
Outer disciples are mortal cultivators that have yet to successfully build their Dao foundation and learn to control their Qi. This is the main workforce of your sect that does day-to-day tasks. Being mortals, they require food and water to survive and can die easily to illness or enemies. Any inner disciple will easily kill an outer disciple, as Qi also forms a barrier that protects the cultivator, which outers lack, so all the damage they take directly injures their flesh. It’s not uncommon to see outer disciple dropping like flies unless they are far away from combat.
- Inner Disciples
Inner disciples are the elite disciples of your sect, who have successfully broke through to the Qi realm. They no longer participate in mundane tasks that mortals do and instead focus on cultivation, refinement and exploration. Inner disciple’s skills, attributes and traits affect the outcome of Adventure outcomes as well as World Secrets.
Founding your sect[]
When your chosen outer disciple has finished building their Dao foundation, you can promote them to inner disciple (Note: once you promote the disciple, they will no longer do outer disciple tasks. Make sure that you have enough outer disciples to maintain your sect before you promote more inners). It is recommended to make an inner disciple immediately via the Forming Pill that will always be available, as once the disciple finishes breaking through to the Qi Condensation stage, you will be given an option to found a sect. You can choose its name and its suffix (sect, school, way etc.) (Note: you can’t change the name of your sect after you found it). This is a very important first step, as founding the sect also unlocks all the basic buildings needed to maintain your sect.
Outers[]
As outers generally need to run around the map, make sure to equip weapons so they can survive the wild animal attacks. While this is not as important while the Mysterious Cultivator is present, once he is gone, no one will protect you other than yourself.
Start off with basic needs:
- Water: build a Well for water
- Food: Build a Bonfire for making Dried Meat. If you have started mining at this point, build a Stonework and make some brownstone blocks to create a Stove.
- Energy: Build Beds for Sleep. Outer Disciples can sleep together in rooms, while Cultivators are more picky and demand their own room, receiving a negative Moodlet if that is not received.
Cultivating your first inner disciple[]
Although you now have an inner disciple that can kill mortals with one slap, they’re still very weak compared to the others. In order to grow stronger, they need to cultivate. And to cultivate efficiently, they need the appropriate environment.
Now, let’s make a room for our fire cultivator. To make a good cultivation room we will need two things: supplementing element and rich Qi.
- Feng Shui affects many things in this game and cultivation is one of them. Each element feeds one and suppresses another. The material of the cultivation room is generally not important early game, in fact there is no real need for a room at all, but it is generally recommended to make one. There are many possible layouts for a cultivation room. A cultivation room will most likely have a cushion placed in the middle and surrounded by stands that have qi gathering items on them. The materials of the cultivation room is not very important, what is important is the element of the flooring under the cushion of the cultivator as well as the surrounding qi gather items.
- Unless you build the room on a patch of spirit soil, Qi likely won’t be particularly rich in it. Thankfully we can fix it relatively easy. Some items have Qi gathering attribute to them. Such items will increase the amount of Qi in the radius of n — 1 from it by that value. Since we need wood element to cultivate our fire disciple, we can use Spiritwood for this purpose. Cut some Spirit trees on your map and place them on the stands around the cushion. And also make any wood element flooring via offcuts on the Handcraft Table. The tier of the material for the flooring doesn’t matter as all flooring share base attractiveness and element emit strength.
For information on qi gather items, check qi gather.
While your outer disciples hurry around chopping the wood and building the room, it’s time to equip your inner disciple with an artifact (unless you have already done so). Inner disciple that doesn’t have an artifact will get mood penalties that will affect their cultivation speed. You may have been lucky and obtained an artifact through some random events or starting experience, but even if you didn’t, it’s not a big deal. Every inner disciple can craft their own artifacts. Let’s do just that.
To craft an artifact, we will need to build an crafting table. You can build it from the sect tab of the building menu.
Now, let’s craft some artifacts. An artifact is created by clicking craft and choosing any random item (yes, you can refine crap into artifacts too). Different items will require different amount of Qi. Since your inner disciple’s maximum Qi is rather low (likely <1000), it is recommended to use low tier items.
It is important to know that despite being able to make anything into an artifact, different base items have different effects. Generally we recommend weapons, as they are… Weapons. For starters, lets mine some mountains for materials. Artifacts also follow Feng Shui, and similarly to how array elements feed the cultivator, the cultivator feeds the artifact. So like how wood feeds a fire cultivator, a fire cultivator feeds an earth artifact, boosting its stats above the base stats. So let’s make a Stonework and a brownstone forge, and make a brownstone weapon.
Select your disciple and click «craft». You will be greeted with 3 options. These are different forms of artifact crafting. For now we can only pick the left one. Then target the item and the crafting will begin.
It is possible to fail the refinement process and the success chance is based on many factors such as the artifact crafting skill and mental state. You will likely need to repeat the process a few times until you finally get your very own artifact.
Make sure your disciple has equipped both the treasure and a weapon to prevent mood penalties.
By this time your outer disciples have likely finished constructing the cultivation room. Select the cushion and assign it to your fire cultivator. Now they will use it to cultivate when they can.
During cultivation the disciple will gain two types of points: cultivation experience and Inspiration points.
- Cultivation experience is required to break through to higher stages. During their cultivation the disciple will accumulate experience until they hit a bottleneck. Once they do, they will gain no further experience until they successfully break through.
- Inspiration points are used to learn manuals or improve skills. Although there’s no upper limit to them, as you spend them, each following skill or art will require more inspiration points to upgrade, based on Attainment which is a value that is gained from learning manuals. Manuals with elements that counter your cultivator’s elements will give more attainment and the opposite for elements that feed, therefore balancing what manuals you learn is important, or you might find yourself unable to keep up with the inspiration costs. Plan your upgrades wisely.
You can specify cultivation type at the bottom of the character screen. There are three modes: cultivate (focus on gaining experience), mind (focus on improving mental state) and practice (focus on gaining inspiration points). Note that the speed of cultivation is hugely affected by mental state. You will want to keep it above 60 most of the time. When it drops too low you should switch to mind mode. Leisure items under the build menu also improves the regaining of mental state.
Since the True Sun Refining law focuses on Spells you will likely want to upgrade Arcane Knowledge skill and select manuals that improve spellcasting. (Important note: Do not get any manuals that increase spellcasting cost as it will simultaneously decrease your qi faster. Think about your qi as both your HP and MP). Getting manuals that improve your attributes is recommended too, since it directly affects the efficiency of your cultivation.
Around Day 20, a World Secret will unlock informing you about how the invaders of the Taiyi Sect should have left. Go to the World Screen, click secrets and do the adventure for Return to Taiyi.
(For more in-depth cultivation guide please check the Cultivation page)
After this, you have the basics of cultivating. Next step for your inner will be Golden Core. This is the most important stage of your cultivator, but at the same time, as the rebirth mechanic exists, it is not final. What is final however is your Golden Core quality if you choose not to rebirth the cultivator. The Golden Core score you get directly translates into how much max qi you gain from your Golden Core breakthrough and the quality of your Golden Core will determine the difficulty of your breakthrough into Primordial Spirit stage. Make sure to consult the Golden Core breakthrough checklist right before your Golden Core breakthrough.
After this, the first thing you should do is head back to Ruins of Taiyi and examine the giant pagoda around the left side of the map. You will get an item called Legacy of Taiyi which can be unsealed only by Golden Core or above. It gives two items, and examining the Codex of Taiyi unlocks the Mini-Universe wonder, which is also your storage device and should be built ASAP. Check the World link below for where to get the materials needed for the Mini-Universe.

- Amazing Cultivation Simulator: Basic Gameplay Guide (Google Doc)
Secretos

A collection of information I discovered that either wasn’t covered in other guides or was particularly difficult to find. Some of this may be obvious, but Ctrl+F exists and is your friend.
You’ve probably been told not to start with a Yaoguai and you probably decided to heed that advice after, at most, the first or second time you made the mistake. The important thing to know about Shapeshifter Tribulations is that you have to manually activate them. Select your Yaoguai, hit the yin-yang symbol on the right and then click the icon that tells you how many days until your next tribulation. I didn’t think it looked clickable but it certainly is! You then select a spot to have your fistfight with Heaven.
Yaoguai that have successfully survived their Shapeshifter Tribulation will never have to undergo another Shapeshifter Tribulation (but may need to survive a different Tribulation based on how you choose to progress their Cultivation.) You can use a drop-down menu that appears in the bottom left to switch them between their beast, monster, and human forms. There’s statistical differences but I’m unsure what specifically they are.
I couldn’t tell you what else applies.
- Spirit Soul Gems are a ♥♥♥ to farm so buy them any chance you get because you’re unlikely to have access to them when you need them most. There is no consistent farming method to get them, unlike Anguish Soul Gems (Hell Gates).
- Don’t make a bunch of storage, you’ll get a miniature universe relatively early on.
- In order to construct the miniature universe, all you need is a cultivator at or above Golden Core. Examine the orb, then examine the scroll, it’s in the building category “Wonders”. It requires some rare-ish resources but it’s not terrible. (Fire and Ice Essence, Holy Stone Blocks, etc.) The small offshoot pillars of the mini-universe are not necessary – all they do for you is let you take items from the universe out at the location of the pillar instead of the universe, but most things your disciples will have teleported to them.
- In light of this and other reasons, there’s huge advantages to having exactly one inner disciple who blitzes through and gets a garbage golden core. Primordial Spirit (the tier after Golden Core) takes a long time to reach no matter what you do, and it’s worth rushing to so you can unlock the spells that boost allies’ stats by a percentage based on how low the stats are at the time you cast the spells (there’s one for Perception, Constitution, Charisma and Intelligence. None for Luck or Potential that I’m aware of.)
- Once you hit the second tier of sect, it’s advantageous to make multiple “throwaway” inners (3 or so) who you just send on looping adventures to places with resources you find valuable that aren’t terribly rare. So not crimson fruit, but stuff like ores. Having 300 igneocopper or ice ores at all times is a good policy – it means you can donate 200 to factions when they need them for World quests. Those quests are a decent way to get connection/favor.
- That said, those quests aren’t nearly as valuable for favor as camping at a given faction’s headquarters and inviting a bunch of Qi Shaping/Core Shaping disciples over. There’s tons of benefits to this – if they have nice rooms, nice food, access to a place to meditate and some recreation options (and it isn’t winter), you’ll likely get anywhere from 17 to 50 favor per. This is good. Run a fancy hotel for them. You can try to recruit their people out from under them, too!
- It’s better to keep the numbers of Physical Cultivators you train down – they require more micromanaging than Xiandao, and while your mileage may vary I learned having 3 is a pain in the ass to coordinate. 1 is fine, 2 if you really must. Once you have one mostly trained up, of course, it’s no big deal to add more.
- 9 is even more true of Shendao, with a caveat. Shendao are extremely annoying to level once they have a Palace, but also getting there takes a really long time. However, if you slap every possible talisman that increases Mental State, if made on T12 paper at 95% or higher, you can clear the second phase of Shendao mental cultivation relatively quickly. If you’re planning on making multiple Shendao, have your first go a bit ahead of the others.
- Shendao are extremely prone to getting obsessions, those nasty little balls that give you semi-permanent negatives. Particularly Anxiety (if you’re going too slow) and especially Hedonistic. One way to slow getting Hedonistic is to throw them into a really unpleasant place for a short while every now and then.
- Don’t overload yourself with too many save slots. This may seem common sense, but, you know. I had around 150 and it started to lag really bad trying to load so. Yeah!
- If you’re trying to get the talisman law from He Zudao (which you need), then know that it seems like her stats are randomized every save. I was able to mug her when she was Golden Core on one save, and then I went to see her on another and she was Primordial Spirit and beat my ass.
- The Laws that you can get from mugging/poaching people from other factions are variants of the base Law that you can get from either winning Kunlun or stealing/conquering said factions. All three that I’ve found so far (Seven Slaughtering Sect, the elixir one and the artifact crafting one) are really good, and worth either holding on to people to make them cultivators of or using Reincarnation to nab them.
- Spirit Trees are a ♥♥♥. Read the guide on the Discord. It’s really, really long. And it has to be. And there’s no easy way to work around them. But it’s true, the rewards you get from them are awesome. If you’re brand new, don’t bother. It’ll just be a miserable time.
- Never invites guests in wintertime, they’ll go freeze outside and blame you for it and there doesn’t seem to be anything you can do.
- I’m convinced nobody knows exactly what the stats (Bless/Curse, Fatness, Physique) mean on Spirit Pets. I know Bless makes them tankier and Curse makes them do more damage, and they’re obtained by the pet being either a huge ♥♥♥ or a good-boy saint, but nobody can give a straight answer (and I couldn’t find one) about Fatness/Physique or why you would ever, ever feed your pet food that does nothing but lower one/both of those. Supposedly they increase HP and damage – but then, if that’s true, why would you want those lower?
- Every Xiandao needs Spiritual Breath Chant. Get it early. It’s inexpensive and will save your life. It’s the fastest way by far to regen Qi.
- If you’re having a terrible time you can always go into the Realms Palace on the main menu and add some custom items or equipment. It’s relatively easy to understand what you’re doing (I mean, I was able to figure it out!). Note: If you want simple stat boosts to fine-adjust stats instead of just maxing them outright, you’ll probably want to make several of the same effect. I haven’t been able to find a way to make elixirs/medicines that give permanent boosts stack with themselves.
- The reason people don’t tell you how to get certain manuals is because many are random and you just have to get lucky and that’s how it is.
- You can make any Xiandao cultivator you find give you a manual that has a small effect on it “unique” to each cultivator if you max their relationship, have high social, and click Secret Knowledge twice. Be careful not to do this if you’re visiting and have no inventory space. You won’t get a second copy. People tell me that this is true of He Zhudao for their law, but in my experience that isn’t the case.
- You can make Spirit Crystals with Alchemy immediately, but you need high enough Alchemy to actually make them.
- Take notes. Yes, you, yourself, take notes. Read guides and take notes. If you want to make a physical cultivator then pick what you want to do yourself. Read the physical cultivator guides that are already handy so you can make sure you’re not wasting time. The general rule to always keep in mind IMO is that artifact suppression sucks and you never want more of it, ever. This is because actually catching an artifact drains your qi and if you’re fighting anyone serious enough you want to use a high-end body cultivator then you’re not 1v1-ing anyone, and if you are you’re fighting someone with multiple artifacts to begin with. Artifact suppression can only, at most, catch 1 artifact at a time.
- Never dismiss spirit pets never dismiss spirit pets never dismiss spirit pets they are extremely useful and good and if you dismiss one when they first show up, you’ll never get another shot at them this save.
- Speaking of spirit pets, you will always get the dog on day 30, then (if you have the DLC) the panda a bit later, then the fox awhile after that. All three are good but the Panda constantly whines so if you want to skip it, well, nobody should blame you for that.
- If a spiritual pet dies, you can get them back. Build a statue to them (you only need one per pet) and activate it. Three days later, they’re back. This also lets you swap between pets (with the same 3 day period of waiting.) Make the statues in advance.
- If you have the merchant mod you can make some serious bank by making bows out of Spirit Blocks and selling those bows to the merchant. I do not recommend this as a strategy if you don’t have the merchant mod, because the merchants are too few and far between and there’s always a risk they’ll decide to pay you 0 for Gear Items this trip.
- When planning your farms, don’t plant wheat/etc. over spirit grass if you can avoid it. That’s better used for herb garden (and, if you’re ready for the chore, Spirit Trees). They need the fertility.
- Your farms aren’t big enough. You think they are? Double their size. Now they’re closer to big enough.
- Just make your own Reincarnators, it’s not worth the headache of randomly rolling characters every single time you start a new game. You don’t have to give your Reincarnators max stats if you don’t want to, but please, you deserve better than a 60-year-old blind grandpa with 2s in all stats who can’t do physical labor.
- If you really want to start with a Yaoguai and you just will not back down from that, make a Reincarnator. Give them custom Ideas that give them all the stats you want, give them a total of 3 ideas, then use them. You’ll have 600+ days to sort them out for their Tribulation, which is plenty of time.
- Tribulations that hit Xiandao cultivators start out comparatively easy.
- Kunlun is a great way to get laws that you otherwise can’t (if you win) but it will skyrocket your sect’s fame and honestly? Is it worth it? Make the value call yourself.
- Artifact quests usually have you either leave or fight someone for it, and they’re rarely worth it in my experience. The artifacts you get from those tend to be merchant/devour/etc. fodder.
- Ice Essence Bracelets are good for making artifacts out of earlyish on.
- Max Artifact Qi is either really good or really bad and I haven’t found a consensus. If you quote me on this I’m going to have a lot of angry people after me though, probably : ( For my money, low max artifact qi is probably the way to go.
- If you came here from Rimworld, I’m sorry. This isn’t a colony management sim, it’s a huge chain of minigames that share resources and interact with one another and at their core is an RPG where you power up your party as much as possible.
- Do all of the in-game tutorial before getting into it. It’ll prepare you for the first 30 days or so. It’s not enough on its own but it’s something.
- This game is going to take you time to learn and get down and if you don’t think it will then this message is doubly for you. Your arrogance will get you steamrolled. Swallow your pride, read a guide!

Character Selection
Basics
Your Party is broken into 3 people with one «Main Character» that also has background points. Keep in mind your Background defaults when you randomize.
Stat Distribution
The Stat grid thresholds are per pentagon line. Moderate is the innermost line and High is the next line out from there. I would encourage you to align your MC’s stats with your background’s art.
Traits
There are really cool traits like heaven’s chosen and gifted but in practice im just glad to not have any negatives as I emphasize Stat distribution and Skills more
Skills
I’ve read that the only skills your cultivators care about is Qi cultivation, Crafting and battle more or less in that order. In the early game you start with a free Level up Pill but cultivation is a long road.
Starting
Generally starts are going to go in this order
- Chop Wood
- Place Campfire
- 3.Place The two Crafting spots
- 4 Cut Trees and/or Punch rocks
- 5. Craft Planks or Bricks (probably both)
- 6. Craft Tools
- 7. Build a well
- 8. Build Assorted tool stations that upgrade what you have
- 9. Place Farms
- 10. Build an Observatory
- 11.Eventually Build rooms, I Build Four 3×5 Internals and one 5×5 Internal for my Sect Leader.
Things to keep in Mind
Rooms for cultivators should Ideally be made of the element that their element consumes with only the bed being their element. Other furniture should be of the consumed element as well.
Doors should be on the south side
You start with a cultivation Pill, once you have your new Inner Disciple they don’t work and will be very upset if they are not given an Artifact and a weapon. Weapons can be crafted or found on corpses and artifacts cost at least 5000 Qi in a material to craft.
Secrets
Secrets are functionally accessed under the world tab and a big one to look out for is a couple of weeks in you get a secret mission to investigate the old sect. This gives you all of the starter inheritances.
Feng Shui
Honestly the in game tutorial is solid
Biggest thing is to ensure your rooms are made of the element that is consumed by what you are trying to cultivate. The only item of your element should be the Bed/Throne object you cultivate on.
And Bedroom doors face south
