Another aspect that makes the TENS 7000 different from many other tens devices is the pulse width. You have the freedom to adjust the pulse width with this unit, and that is something not very common with tens devices.

The range is between 50-300 microseconds and each increase or decrease is equal to 10 microseconds.

Once you have manually programmed a session you can then set the timer on this device. You can adjust the session to last from one minute to a full hour. You also have the choice of selecting Continuous.

Very few people have made any complaints about the device being weak—if anything the opposite is true. This isn’t an issue, of course, if you just use a lower setting for current aptitude.

Many other devices only go up to 80 mA. Even though this is technically not a very big current, it doesn’t need to be in order to prove effective. The important thing is that the current is capable of passing through the tissue in order to target sensory nerves.

How Easy Is It to Use?

As I already mentioned, there are a variety of setting which can be customized and controlled on the TENS 7000. Despite this, however, it is actually pretty easy to operate.

I think that a lot of is this is due its manual, which is laid out in a logical manner and covers absolutely every aspect. It even contains useful tips.

There are a grand total of six different controls, and they are not only easy to use but also understand.

There are four buttons on the front of the device. These buttons are not all that large, but they should not pose a problem because they are spaced apart from one another and overall designed well.

I have heard a few minor complaints that it has taken some people a while to figure out the function of all the buttons. Some individuals have said that even the operating manual wasn’t of much use and they were left feeling confused.

Before you can determine the right balance of mode, intensity, speed, and setting for your unique pain, you must first figure out how to adjust these various options.

I believe that the operating manual is helpful, however, and it is also somewhat understandable that it would require a bit of learning in order to adjust so many different options. I think it is well worth it because you get a lot more control over customizing your own experience.

Another characteristic I like about the TENS 7000 is the countdown timer located on the LCD screen. The screen also displays other important data, such as pulse frequency or width and selected mode.

Aside from the protective cover around the intensity levels there is another one located on the front to protect the four buttons situated there. This cover does the same job by preventing you from accidentally bumping any of the buttons and thereby changing the settings.

Dimensions and Portability

The dimensions of the TENS 7000 are: 10 x 6 x 2.43 cm, and that translates in inches to a height of 3.98, a width of 2.4, and a depth of 0.96.

As you can see this device is pretty small and compact. As for weight, the unit is 5.29 oz which isn’t that much either and makes it considerably mobile. Overall I would say this is a very portable tens machine.

Since we are on the subject of portability, I should remind you that the device also has a hard carrying case that is made perfectly to fit the unit’s dimensions. This isn’t something you will see very often, but it is very important to have a protective case if you are taking the unit with you outside of the home.

One 9V Battery

One of the very few downsides to the TENS 7000 is the fact that it uses 9 volt batteries which are seldom rechargeable.

For some people it is a pretty big deal that the unit can’t be plugged into a wall or charged. I don’t think this is too important, however, considering all of the good things the TENS 7000 has going for it.

There is also the option of hunting down some rechargeable 9V batteries and a charger—and honestly I think that this is a good idea and it will probably save you money in the long run.

It’s a good plan to have either rechargeable batteries or plenty of extras, and don’t forget that the device only ships with one battery, so you will need to replace it soon. The screen also has a a low battery indicator which gives you some warning before needing to replace the battery, which is another nice feature.

I can’t tell you precisely how long a single battery will last, but I can give you a pretty good idea from the research I have done. In general it seems like you will get around 10 hours of use out of each battery, depending on factors like the settings you use. Overall this is actually pretty good.

Accessories and Included Items

Right off the bat you will be given the unit itself, a 9V battery to power the device, instruction manual, the carrying case, two lead wires, and four pads/electrodes.

The wires that come with this device are pin leads which plug in rather than snapping in.

Aside from planning ahead by getting extra batteries, or at least rechargeable ones, you may also want to have some replacement pads for when you need them. Eventually those pads will wear out and it’s a good idea to have some extras in stock.

Another nice fact about the TENS 7000 is that you have plenty of options when it comes to tens 7000 replacement pads. This is because it is made for the standard type of electrodes. If you would like to choose higher quality pads then you can certainly do so.

I recommend looking at this 40 pack re-usable electrode pads for one possibility.

The pads for this device are pre-gelled, so you don’t need to apply an adhesive gel. Be warned, however, because over time they start to get less sticky. You have a few different options if this happens: dampen the pad, just get some new ones, or, on the other hand, you could use an adhesive gel.

If you decide to go with a gel we suggest this one. It’s great because it is not only odorless but also hypoallergenic. It will help you with tens 7000 electrode placement.

One Year Warranty

A one year warranty covers the labor and parts of the TENS 7000.

This is fairly typical as many other tens units have a warranty lasting a year, but there are certainly other machines which have less time on their warranties. Some have a warranty lasting only a few months.

I have looked at a lot of different TENS units and when it comes to value and affordability I don’t think anything beats the TENS 7000.

This device has so many great capabilities and features and you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg.

If you were wondering where to buy this tens unit I haven’t been able to find the TENS 7000 through Walgreen’s, Walmart, or Overstock at the time of this writing. You can, however, find it on Amazon.

The one that is currently available on Amazon is a 2^nd edition. I found another on ebay which is listed as a 3^rd edition but it is in fact a 2^nd edition.

On TensPros.com the unit is listed for $25.95, and on Rakuten.com it is currently $31.79. TensPros had the best price option while this review is written. Make sure you take into account the price of shipping, however, which could vary from store to store. And don’t forget to check out the price on Amazon for any discounts or deals before you buy this product.

It also appears that LCMedSupply, Balego or Roscoe Medical have the same devices called TENS-7000, but they are, however, branded different. You will find the identical device sold by different brands.

Balego TENS 7000 can be found on Amazon here. Obviously it’s a little more expensive but it also comes with 40 packs, which actually makes it a pretty good deal.

The LgMedSupply lg-7000 digital tens unit can be found on LgMedSupply.com for $69.99 but not Amazon. There is also another brand called Current Solutions but it is a Rosco Medical Company.

Aside from the obvious cost of the unit there are some other expenses you will have to consider, as with any other tens device.

You will have to take into account batteries, either rechargeable or replacement, and electrodes. This isn’t too serious because the device can takes standard fit electrodes, which aren’t too expensive. It also has a fairly good battery life.

What Do People Think?

When talking about tens device ratings the evidence is overwhelmingly positive. Most of the reviews on Amazon, Overstock and other online store are positive, with around 70 % of people giving TENS 7000 five stars.

On overstock.com 598 out of the 737 total reviews gave the product five stars. Those who have purchased the device say it is quite powerful, takes away their pain, and has eliminated their need for over the counter painkillers.
